I recently rewatched this Unsung episode of Chante Moore. I grew up listening to her music, but I didn't understand how amazing her voice really was until I was an adult. One of my favorite songs of hers is "I'm What You Need."
I love hearing the stories on artists I admire. It's inspiring hearing about their journey, and where they started. This is a dope interview of Snoh Aalegra. I recently learned "Toronto" off her latest album. She's a great artist.
I faithfully tune in to State of the Culture each Monday! I absolutely love this show, and all their view points on various subjects on the culture. This week, they open up with a discussion about The Last Dance documentary on Michael Jordan. I have been tuning in, and it really has inspired me. There's a reason why he was so successful. Unfortunately, people don't agree with his tactics to achieve success, but I can learn from his spirit of winning no matter what and his discipline for his craft.
On March 6th Jhene Aiko released her fourth studio album titled, Chilombo. The name comes from her actual last name. I've been hearing her singles from this album constantly on my google home, and I made it a point to go listen to the whole album. It was so good. The vibe went from heartbreaking love songs to of self love and freedom. There were a variety of sounds, which I think show'd her versatility. She went from a climax of emotions to an airy, light sound. She used her singing bowls in several records, which was intentional to set a certain vibration for the tracks. My favorite songs from this project is "Trigged," "None of Your Concern," "B.S." and "Surrender." Her songwriting is so vulnerable and raw. It's almost shocking to hear some of the ways she chooses to portray things, but she's staying true to herself. I absolutely love hearing her voice and H.E.R.'s on the same record! I used to stress myself out! I used to complain more than I currently do. I used to allow my negative thoughts get to me. For years now, I have been practicing positive thinking and optimism. I have been mindful of the things I give life, just by speaking them. I love this video, because Trevor Moawad gives some great examples of how negative and positive thinking can change the trajectory of someone's life. He also provides some tips on starting the journey!
I love Kanye. I think he has a right to his opinion and to live his life the way he see's fit. He's an artistic genius, and I love his push for free thought. This interview was definitely insightful, and cleared up a lot of questions I even had about his intentions lately. I believe his purpose for doing Sunday service is genuine and innovative. I enjoyed it a few months ago when I got to be a part of it in the pop up choir. Every artists transitions, plus no person stays the same. We're supposed to learn and grow, and that's what I think he has done.
This is a long interview, but I got through it all with time. I'm glad I took the time to listen! It's very inspiring! What I took mostly was hearing this is tips on being an entrepreneur. As you may know. I have been an entrepreneur for about 2 and a half years now, running a music lessons studio. The talk about having a trade that can help fund your passion. I am always an artist first, but teaching is something I happen to be very good at! They also discuss how crucial it is to have a team, and the importance of having the right people a part of your journey. This definitely got me brainstorming on ideas to build my brand as a whole. It's definitely worth watching!
